I’m sharing a few personal highlights from my year (all car-related of course!).
1. Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 – September
This has to be my biggest highlight of the year. I chance my arm and apply for a press pass, get it and then make the necessary travel arrangements. Then I rock up at the Messe on the first press day late (oh yeah) and thank my lucky stars that I’m not reporting for some big kick-ass motoring publication because I would surely be sacked. You can read my first person account of the Frankfurt madness here.
2. Road trip to Cavan – April
This was more fun than I thought it would be. I was lucky to have a new Ford Focus to test the week I needed to travel to Cavan for a friend’s wedding. The Ford Focus took on Cavan’s finest roads and won. I wrote about my trip to Cavan in two installments. You can read Part 1 here.
3. First time in a Jag – November
Driving the new Jaguar XF at the Irish press launch earned itself its own hashtag (#firsttimeinajag). I had a blast driving this big cat around some twisty roads in Kildare. Here’s my first drive review.
4. Living it large in the Audi Q7 – August
The Q7 is a big, powerful beast and just for a day I got to see how the other half lived. Luckily I didn’t look up the price of the car I drove at the launch until after I finished my test drive. It might have made me nervous on those small roads around Tankardstown House. You can read my Audi Q7 first drive review here.
5. Driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road in the Netherlands – June
The Opel Karl launch in the Netherlands was my first international launch. It’s a blur of windmills, cheese and press cars in all the colours of the rainbow. There were no mishaps driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road and I really enjoyed talking to some of the people who developed the car.
