Audi has released photos and details of the new Audi A5 Sportback ahead of its public debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The styling of the new Audi A5 Sportback has been updated in line with the rest of the Audi range and there’s also a new interior. Interior space has increased and the new car will feature a host of driver assistance systems and the latest infotainment features, including Audi’s virtual cockpit and the Audi smartphone interface.
The suspension has been reengineered and the front axle features redesigned five-link suspension, while a five-link construction replaces the trapezoidal-link rear suspension used previously. The adaptive dampers available optionally are integrated into the standard Audi drive select dynamic handling system. A new electromechanical power steering set-up promises enhanced road feedback and steering precision.
There will be five engine variants to choose from, including two TFSI and three TDI engine, from 190hp to 286hp, with fuel consumption reduced by as much as 22%. The range topping S5 will produce 354hp and 500Nm of torque. Six-speed manual transmission, seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission or eight-speed tiptronic will be available. The V6 turbo engine in the new Audi S5 Sportback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and up to an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h, with quattro and eight-speed tiptronic as standard.
The second generation of the Audi A5 Sportback will arrive in Ireland in early 2017.
