The new Peugeot 3008 SUV has arrived in Ireland, priced from €25,995. The new 3008 is one of the most eagerly anticipated new cars of 2017 because it’s Peugeot’s first real competitor in the popular C-SUV segment.
The 3008 has gone undergone a dramatic transformation inside and out and Peugeot has really pushed the game forward in terms of design and technology to satisfy the seemingly insatiable appetite for SUVs. The new 3008 SUV stands out as something fresh and different in this segment with an upmarket look that is only enhanced as you go up the trim levels.
The theme continues inside with a complete rejuvenation of Peugeot’s iCockpit. It’s beautiful, almost concept car-like, and there are some really stylish interior materials used. An impressive fully digital instrument panel comes as standard with an 8” touchscreen.
Other standard features on the entry Access model (from €25,995) include multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, cruise control with speed limiter, four electric windows, air con, and safety equipment that has helped the car achieve a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating including Speed Limit Information with Intelligent Speed Adaptation, Driver Attention Alert Level 1 and Lane Departure Warning.
The level two Active model (from €28,295) has extra safety equipment including Advanced Emergency Braking System with video camera and radar and Front Collision Warning. Other equipment includes rear parking, reversing camera, 17” alloy wheels, alloy roof rails, electric parking brake with Hill Assist, automatic headlamps and wipers, LED daytime running lights, front fog lights with chrome trim, automatic air conditioning, electric folding door mirrors, LED interior lighting, Mirrorscreen connectivity and WIFI, and some styling updates including stainless steel roof arch trim, and body colour rear spoiler with stainless steel edging trim.
Higher trim levels are available that add more styling upgrades and equipment: Allure (from €29,855), GT Line (from €33,225) and a top of the range GT 2.0-litre BlueHDi automatic version (from €44,395).
Built on the same EMP2 platform as the 308 hatchback introduced here in 2014, the 3008 SUV has a similar range of engines, including a 1.2-litre 130hp turbo petrol engine and a 1.6-litre diesel with 100 or 120hp, all with competitive running costs and emissions as low as 103g CO2 on some models. Manual and automatic gearboxes are available, while Advanced Grip Control for extra traction in low-grip conditions, is an option on all versions and standard on GT.
Speaking at the launch of the new 3008, Des Cannon, Managing Director at Gowan Distributors Limited, Peugeot Importers in Ireland said, “A huge sales success in Europe already and with 17 international awards under its belt, demand for the new Peugeot 3008 is outstripping supply in every country where it has already been launched. Over 100,000 units have now been ordered in just 4 months, breaking records for the company.”
“Furthermore, the brand’s objective of moving upmarket is now clearly coming into fruition, with 86% of sales to date attributed to level three Allure, level four GT Line and the range-topping GT trims. Together with the new Peugeot 5008 SUV, arriving this summer, we now look forward to increasing our performance in the all-important C-SUV segment.”
The new 3008 is available from Peugeot’s Irish dealer network now.
