The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been revealed and will arrive in Ireland this summer.

The styling of new A-Class is progressive rather than radical, but the interior is completely new, with design elements seen in the larger C-Class and E-Class saloons. There is a new ‘Widescreen’ display that is completely free-standing. It’s available in three versions: with two 7-inch displays, with one 7- and one 10.25-inch display and with two 10.25-inch displays.

The new A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz model to feature the completely new multimedia system MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience, which also ushers in a new era in Mercedes me connectivity.

Inside there is more shoulder, elbow and headroom, and Mercedes-Benz also promises easier access to the rear and more boot space (now 370 litres).

The new A-Class has a number of technology features including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC which predicts and adjusts the speed when approaching bends, junctions or roundabouts. Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Lane Change Assist and extended Active Brake Assist also feature.

Engine options will include two new four cylinder petrol engines (1.4-litre A 200 with 163hp and 2.0-litre A 250 with 224hp) and a new four cylinder diesel (1.5-litre A 180 d with 116hp).

6 speed manual and 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearboxes will be available, as will 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive.
