
Peugeot Ireland recently hosted a press event to introduce a new generation of models to the Irish market that feature hybrid and battery technology.The new Peugeot 208 supermini and popular Peugeot 2008 crossover will now feature electric versions for the first time.
The 3008 and 508 ranges will also now feature plug-in hybrids. The new models complement existing petrol and diesel versions in their respective ranges. Here’s what we learnt at Peugeot’s test drive event:
1. By 2023, every Peugeot passenger car and light commercial vehicle range will be electrified with a hybrid or electric vehicle available.
- 2. The new Peugeot e-208 (available now) has a 50 kWh battery and drive range is up to 340 km (WLTP). It retails from €27,334 inclusive of SEAI grant and VRT relief in Ireland and puts out 136 bhp. The battery is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km, for up to 70% retention. The new e-208 offers maximum 100 kW charging.

3. There’s hybrid technology for the first time in Peugeot’s SUV range. The new Peugeot 3008 HYBRID4 has all wheel drive, 300 hp and can drive up to 59 km in 100% electric mode. It’s available in the top-of-the-range GT Line and GT trims. Pricing for the HYBRID4 is to be confirmed.
4. In April, the 3008 SUV HYBRID4 model will be joined by a 225 bhp front wheel drive Peugeot 3008 HYBRID with a list price of €37,995 plus delivery related charges, inclusive of VRT relief and the SEAI grant.
5. The new Peugeot 508 fastback hybrid has CO₂ emissions of just 29g and can travel 54 km in 100% electric mode. The 508 SW estate hybrid achieves 30g CO₂/km and 52 km in 100% electric mode. Both are petrol-electric plug-in hybrids with 225 bhp. The 508 Allure PHEV retails from €38,900 plus delivery, inclusive of VRT relief and the SEAI grant.
6. The new Peugeot e-2008 is the brand’s first fully electric SUV and is powered by a 50 kWh battery and 136 hp motor to provide a range up to 310 kms from a full charge (WLTP).
7. Peugeot Ireland expect the new e-208 and e-2008 to account for 1 in 5 sales of these new models.
