The Skoda Enyaq RS is the performance version of Skoda’s popular family SUV. The RS badge has some incredible history and pedigree behind it – putting it on a pure electric SUV has been nothing short of controversial among Skoda RS fans.

So is it any good? In this review, I take a closer look at the 2026 Skoda Enyaq RS and see how it performs on Irish roads.

2026 Skoda Enyaq RS Design

Based on the standard version, the Enyaq RS gets more aggressive styling thanks to sportier bumpers front and rear, black-painted details (like roof rails and the Skoda badge), and a unique set of 21-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers. It doesn’t scream power and performance but it’s a handsome car all the same.

It also benefits from the recent facelift of the entire Enyaq range. At the front, it gets the brand’s new ‘tech-deck’ face that consists of a black panel hiding radar and sensors for driver assistance features. Being the top of the range model, it also gets a special light treatment, which looks very glam at night. Matrix LED headlights are included as standard on the RS.

Inside the Enyaq RS feels very upmarket. There are plenty of plush materials helping it feel a cut above other models. The leatherette and suede upholstered sports seats with RS badge lift the atmosphere, as well as features like lime green contrast piping, RS-branded leather steering wheel and aluminium sport pedals.

Like the rest of the range, it comes with a 13-inch touchscreen that’s crisp and easy to use, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ventilation controls are in the screen but are easy to adjust. Skoda has retained a row of proper buttons underneath to activate quick features like demisting the rear window.

There’s a lot of equipment in this car including heated steering wheel, heated front seats with power adjustment, memory and massage feature. It also comes with handy keyless entry, 360-degree camera, head-up display, wireless smartphone charging and ambient lighting.

Practicality

The Enyaq’s strong point is practicality and the RS is no different. This five-seat SUV is very spacious inside. The completely flat floor means there’s generous legroom for rear seat passengers.

The 585-litre boot is excellent, being wide and deep so you can stack things easily. A powered tailgate is also included.

Battery and range

The Enyaq RS uses the largest battery available (84kWh), which is good for range up to 535 kilometres (WLTP). For reference, a Tesla Model Y Performance can manage up to 580 kilometres.

Charging

11kW AC charging is included as well as DC up to 175kW for a 10-80% charge in about 28 minutes.

Driving the 2026 Skoda Enyaq RS

Skoda has made tweaks to the Enyaq RS to help it deal with the extra power and make it better to drive than other models in the range. It’s 4×4 for a start with 340hp and 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds. There are also a few driving modes and dynamic chassis control included as standard that introduces even more options to personalise the driving experience.

The Enyaq RS is definitely fast and responsive to drive. But it’s just not that engaging to drive compared to the Tesla Model Y Performance. There’s none of the grin-inducing acceleration or the lightening quick responses.

Instead the RS majors on comfort and refinement, but that may not be exciting enough for those looking for a true performance SUV. Indeed, the smaller Skoda Elroq RS manages to be more fun to drive.

The Enyaq RS is priced at €61,740 on the road in Ireland, which is a similar price point to the Tesla Model Y Performance.

Verdict

The 2026 Skoda Enyaq RS is a great option for buyers looking for a practical and comfortable electric SUV with a sporty image, though it does cost considerably more than standard versions. The upmarket interior, impressive equipment list and spacious cabin are very desirable, while the large battery gives good range and fast charging capabilities.

Performance-wise, the Enyaq RS delivers strong acceleration and all-wheel-drive confidence, but it lacks the thrill and engagement of rivals like the Tesla Model Y Performance. If your priority is a refined, well-equipped electric SUV that blends practicality with a touch of sportiness, the Enyaq RS is a solid choice. For those chasing a thrilling driving experience, it may feel restrained.

In short: stylish, comfortable and capable, but not quite a heart-racing RS.
