At Changing Lanes, I aim to give you a fun, honest and alternative viewpoint on cars and the motor industry. As a proud independent voice and trusted authority on motoring in Ireland, I have no agenda other than to help you, the consumer, to navigate the numerous choices available to you when buying a new car.
I test and review everything from SUVs and crossovers, to hatchbacks, saloons and sports cars, family cars, luxury cars, pick-ups and even a few vans. I review all types of powertrain including electric cars, hybrid cars, petrol and diesel cars. I’ve driven hundreds of new cars since I launched this website in 2014. MEET CAROLINE KIDD/FOUNDER & EDITOR OF CHANGING LANES, MOTORING JOURNALIST AND CAR REVIEWER
Cars are my passion; Changing Lanes is where that passion lives. I set up the www.changinglanes.ie domain in 2014 as a simple blog where I could share my passion for cars. Since then the site has grown beautifully, gaining more and more fans every year from Ireland, Europe and around the globe. I’m super proud of Changing Lanes and my position as one of Ireland’s most trusted car reviewers.
The website has given me the privilege to drive hundreds of cars and report from new car launches in Ireland and Europe. Every article and car review on Changing Lanes is informed by my expert opinion and broad market knowledge honed over 11 years as a motoring journalist and juror for Irish Car of the Year.
Over the years, I have invested in improving the site layout and design, while maintaining high standards when it comes to content production and writing. I have access to the PR teams and press fleets of the majority of car manufacturers in Ireland. This means that I can bring you the latest new car reviews with all the information relevant to the Irish market like pricing, specifications and what it’s like to drive on Irish roads.
MORE ABOUT ME
I have a Masters in Journalism from the former Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and a Certificate in Digital Marketing from Carlow IT. Studying journalism in college influences my editorial style and reporting, while it also taught me a lot about the role of journalism in society and the media landscape. This all informs my approach to Changing Lanes.
My favourite place to photograph cars is the Blackstairs Mountains on the Wexford/Carlow border near where I grew up. When not writing about cars, I enjoy being outdoors and exploring the great Irish countryside! I’m also an animal lover and author – I wrote a book to raise money for the North Wexford SPCA based on my experience as a volunteer.
