Ford Fiesta ST200

Ford Fiesta ST200 Arrives In Ireland

As the Ford Fiesta celebrates 40 years in production, a new 200PS version of the Ford Fiesta ST hot hatch has gone on sale in Ireland, priced from €32,190.

“The Fiesta ST is truly beloved by owners and critics. The ST200 takes this special drivers’ car to a new level of power and performance,” says Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland.

The Fiesta ST200 is the most powerful production Fiesta model to date and delivers 10% more power (182PS vs.  200PS) and 20% more torque (240Nm vs. 290Nm) from a specially calibrated 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. An additional 15PS and 30Nm of torque is available for up to 20 seconds using transient overboost.

The ST200 will sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, going on to a top speed of 230kmh. It delivers faster in-gear acceleration for improved drivability and an even more fun-to-drive experience. Like the Fiesta ST, the ST200 sits 15 millimetres closer to the road than standard Fiesta models.

The Fiesta ST200 utilises recently upgraded Fiesta ST suspension and Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) settings to improve ride quality and driving dynamics. A rear twist-beam with 27% more roll-stiffness, and a front anti-roll bar increased to 21mm from 19mm diameter, support revised damper specifications for better impact absorption.

Fiesta ST200 driving dynamics are supported by Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control (eTVC) and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The eTVC system applies brake force to the inside front wheel when cornering to improve road holding and reduce understeer without affecting speed. ESC offers full system intervention; wide-slip mode with limited intervention; and full ESC de-activation.

Optimised braking is delivered with 278mm front and 253mm rear disc brakes, and a larger tandem brake master cylinder than standard Fiesta models.

The Fiesta ST200 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine’s low weight also assists handling and features technologies including turbocharging, high-pressure direct fuel-injection and twin-independent variable cam timing for high power alongside 6.1 l/100 km (46.3mpg) fuel efficiency and 140g/km CO2 emissions.

The ST200 offers bolder and more distinctive design and is offered solely in exclusive Storm Grey exterior colour with the distinctive 17-inch ST alloys wheels finished in matt black with polished rims.

Fiesta ST200 models also feature red painted callipers alongside the ST-specification large trapezoidal honeycomb grille, dynamic front spoiler and side-skirts, body-colour rear diffuser element and large rear roof spoiler.

An enhanced interior specification includes unique partial leather Charcoal Recaro front seats that are further distinguished with contrasting silver stitching, as are the seatbelts. Illuminated scuff plates incorporate the ST200 logo. Carbon fibre dashboard inserts, alloy-metal pedals and gearshifter, and an ST-specification steering wheel also feature for the atmospheric interior that contrasts dark materials and headliner with silver effect detail. Keyless push button start comes as standard as well as rear privacy glass and Ford SYNC infotainment.

The Ford Fiesta ST was launched in 2013 and quickly established itself as Europe’s leading compact performance hatchback, earning more than 20 awards around the world within its first year on sale. Ford has since sold more than 30,000 Fiesta STs in Europe.

Citroen C3 WRC concept car

Let's Go Racing! New Citroen C3 WRC Concept Car

Citroen has released the first images of the Citroen C3 WRC concept car ahead of its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Designed by the Citroen style centre in partnership with Citroën Racing, the concept car offers an extreme version of new Citroen C3.

The C3 WRC concept car heralds the arrival of Citroen’s new rally car that will compete for the first time in the World Rally Championship (WRC) at the Monte Carlo Rally in January 2017. The Citroen team has won eight WRC manufacturers’ titles and holds 96 rally wins, and will be vying for more success when the new C3 WRC car hits the stages.

We are told that the concept car that will be unveiled at Paris is very close to the finished WRC challenger. Based on the new C3 supermini, this more hardcore rally version shares a lot of style features with the production model: two-level light signature, two-tone body/roof and accents matching the colours of the roof.

The exterior also stands out with a chassis 55mm larger than the new C3, for more aerodynamic freedom including a spoiler for the front bumper. The wing mirrors have been sculpted from carbon for a real racing look and come in yellow to echo one of the colours available for the new C3.

The final racing version of the Citroen C3 WRC will have enhanced engine power of around 380bhp and a electronic differential control.

Peugeot 5008 SUV

Dramatic New Look For Next Peugeot 5008

Peugeot 5008 SUV
The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV

An all-new Peugeot 5008 is gearing up for its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show later this month, but ahead of the show Peugeot has revealed that the new car will take the form of a large 7-seater SUV to meet consumer demand in an emerging segment. The brand has already taken the same direction with the next 3008 SUV, due at the end of 2016.

The new car aims to build on the strong commercial success of the existing Peugeot 5008 MPV, which has been the best-selling compact 7-seater MPV in Ireland in 2016.

The all-new Peugeot 5008 gets more assertive styling and according to Peugeot will be lower, more spacious and less bulky than its competitors. It’s longer and wider than the previous 5008 MPV model, so should be roomier inside.

Weight is down 95kg and the vehicle's aerodynamic design gives it one of the lowest drag areas in the segment at 0.76 m2. Ultra-low resistance 17", 18", or Michelin slimline 19" (205 55 R19) tyres further accentuate the overall performance.

The new 5008 SUV will house 3 matching, separate, folding and tilting seats in the second row and 2 removable, separate, folding seats in the third row. Each seat in the second row features three-point Isofix child seat anchor points. Controls on the top of the second row side seat backs facilitate easy access to the third row seats. In just one movement, the second row side seats tilt and slide forward.

There will be the facility to remove the third row of seats and so in a 5-seat configuration, the new 5008 has a huge boot of 1,060 litres. A flat and low boot sill (676 mm), together with a foldable front passenger seat, allow the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV to carry especially long loads of up to 3.20m.

A practical hands-free smart electric tailgate, standard on the GT version, opens and closes quickly and effortlessly when activated, simply by placing your foot under the rear bumper.

There will be a number of other features like sockets, boot cover, blinds, aeroplane trays on the back of the first row seats, hooks, cup holders and 38 litres of storage spaces distributed throughout the passenger compartment to ensure a practical on-board experience.

The new 5008 will come with a range of powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engines and a number of high-tech features, including the latest version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit® with compact steering wheel, an 8" touchscreen, and a 12.3" high-resolution digital head-up instrument panel with graphics that can be customised. Top spec GT Line and GT versions will also feature i-Cockpit® Amplify that adjusts the screen colour and cabin lighting, offers musical ambience settings, multi-point massage seats and a fragrance diffuser.

A number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems will be available including Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) and Distance Alert systems; Active Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA); Driver attention warning; Smart Beam Assistance; Speed sign recognition and speed suggestion; Adaptive cruise control with stop feature; Active blind spot monitoring; Park Assist; Visio Park (360° vision); and Advanced Grip Control, including new Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC).

Prices and specifications for the new 5008 SUV in Ireland will be announced closer to launch.
