Changing Lanes reader Laura Sutherland introduces her new Audi A3 Sportback!

1. Can you introduce yourself in a few sentences?

I’m Laura Sutherland. A wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and dog mum to Eddie and Dudley. I’m a Chartered PR consultant and I run my own PR consultancy, Aura PR, a global PR community, PRFest and I recently launched a food brand, Wonky Pickles!

I’ve loved cars since I was a child. My Dad had some amazing cars and his passion obviously rubbed off!

2. What car do you drive?

I ended up buying the new Audi A3 35 TFSI S line S tronic. It was a difficult decision to make, what car to buy in a pandemic when lockdown has been so up and down.

3. Why did you buy this car?

It was a brand new model which looked pretty great and the spec I chose gave me everything I would want or need in a car. At that point I only had one dog though…!

Obviously when you look at the price of a car you need to make comparisons and it came up top against some other cars I was looking at. I took it out on lease, so if I don’t like it, I’m not stuck with it.

The initial reviews looked good, so why not?!

4. What do you like about it?

I love the new front and rear. Super sharp and the S line model has a great finish. The leather and sports seats and the attention to detail in the cockpit is to a really high standard and the added bonus of the sunroof is perfect! The automatic is super responsive and it’s nippy in sport mode. I like the boot. It’s a Sportback so it’s deceptively roomy.

5. Is there anything you would change about it?

I went for the light grey seats for a change, but maybe the darker grey would have been nice and I’ve only just found out about the ambient lighting kit that looks super cool, which I didn’t spec. I’d also rather have had dark grey alloys – I think the bright silver fits with the chrome, but I’d just rather the darker colour. I think it’s more sporty looking. I’d maybe have chosen white, rather than black, too, if I had seen it in the flesh before…

6. What’s in the glovebox?

Ha! Face masks and hand sanitizer!

7. Favourite moment with the car so far?

Taking it to the beach for a short holiday just before second lockdown happened.

8. Three words to describe your car?

Practical. Efficient. Nippy.
