In this Leapmotor B10 review, Caroline Kidd tests Chinese car brand Leapmotor’s new compact SUV for Ireland to see if it’s a good buy in 2026 if you’re looking for a good value and practical electric SUV. It goes up against rivals such as the MGS5, Skoda Elroq and Kia EV3, but offers a lot of style, space and equipment. It’s available as a full battery electric vehicle or a hybrid, but it’s the electric B10 that’s the subject of this review.

Leapmotor B10 Review Overview

Leapmotor is one of the newest car brands to the Irish market but the Chinese car giant is already expanding rapidly with new models and powertrains, as well as growing its sales and the Leapmotor dealer network around Ireland. The B10 comes hot on the heels of the C10 large SUV and the T03 electric city car. The compact SUV might be the brand’s most competitive model yet thanks to its stylish design, affable driving character, good value pricing, while ticking boxes for space and practicality that make it ideal for Irish families. It’s not perfect with a screen-heavy design inside and and lacks the polish of its closest rivals when it comes to how it performs on Irish roads, with a few issues remaining with the driver assistance features. Prices start from €32,984 with two different battery options available, the largest of which offers range up to 434 kilometres.

Which Leapmotor B10 trim should you buy?

There are two trim lines for the Leapmotor B10 in Ireland: Style and Design. Leapmotor’s new SUV is a little more compact than the larger C10 however it shares similar styling cues like the sleek, futuristic front and light bar at the back. It looks very smart and stylish, with its characteristic three-bar lighting signature and a few different colours to choose from.

Standard specification is good with features including 18-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights. Inside there’s a 14.6-inch touchscreen that controls most of the car’s features as well as wireless smartphone charging and a full panoramic glass roof. There’s a 6-speaker audio system, 360-degree camera, and numerous safety features and driving aids.

The Design still offers good value (from €35,996) but adds even more desirable features like synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats with power adjustment, heated steering wheel and a handy powered tailgate. There’s also a 12-speaker sound system, ambient lighting and rear privacy glass.

What’s the Leapmotor B10 like to drive in Ireland?

On the road, the B10 has largely been set up for comfort so it offers a relaxing, affable drive. Power is sent to the rear wheels (218hp), with 0-100 in 8 seconds but the B10 always feels lively and responsive to drive. It does lean in corners and doesn’t have the best body control. But there’s enough grip to feel safe and secure, and the steering weights up accordingly on faster roads, while being light enough to manoeuvre easily in town.

It cruises fine on the motorway however there is a lot of wind noise that makes it feel less polished than rivals like the EV3 and the Elroq. While the last over-the-air update has made the adaptive cruise control far smoother when reacting to traffic around it, the lane keep assistance is not so nice, particularly on Irish rural roads where it feels like you have to fight with the steering wheel to stay on the correct side of the road.

What’s the real-world range of the Leapmotor B10?

There are two different battery options and both are LFP. The 56.2kWh offers up to 361 kilometres (WLTP). But the larger 67.1kWh is likely to be of more interest to Irish buyers with up to 434 kilometres, however rivals like the Kia EV3 and Skoda Elroq do offer battery options with even more range. Though they are also more expensive than the B10.

Leapmotor rates consumption of 17.3kWh per 100 kilometres and during my test drive, it proved to be just as efficient. It was easy to achieve about 400 kilometres on a single battery charge.

Charging the Leapmotor B10

Both versions come with a heat pump as well as 11kW AC charging. There’s 140/168kW DC fast charging depending on battery, allowing a 30–80% charge in around 20 minutes.

Vehicle-to-load capability is also included.

Leapmotor B10 Interior & Practicality

Inside the B10 has a minimalist interior, just like the Leapmotor C10. It’s a screen-heavy design that may put some buyers off, but it does look slick and modern. The entry-level Style comes with grey fabric seats, while Design models come with synthetic leather upholstery and two interior colour schemes: light grey or ‘shadow’ grey. The cabin finish is a bit plastiky in places and could do with variation in the colours and materials used. A Skoda Elroq feels a little warmer and more high quality overall.

The 14.6-inch touchscreen controls much of the car’s features, including adjusting the side mirrors or level of regenerative braking. It has a brilliant resolution and is packed with functionality, not unlike what Tesla offers in its bestsellers. There are a few shortcuts possible like pulling down the screen to access features quickly. There’s also voice control and a line of shortcut buttons at the bottom of the screen, though the icons are on the small side. Adjusting climate setting is also done through the screen.

The big news is that wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have arrived as part of an over-the-air update. Earlier Leapmotors I tested did not have this feature and it was missed!

Starting the car involves putting the key card on a pad on the centre console, which doubles up as a wireless smartphone charger. There’s also a huge amount of storage in the cabin.

Where the B10 really scores is the space and practicality it offers. There’s a completely flat floor in the back, offering generous legroom for all passengers that rivals SUVs from the class above.

The boot offers an excellent 430 litres, similar to the C10, and is wide and square. Design versions feature a powered tailgate. The rear seats can be folded down 60:40 for carrying larger items. There’s also a handy 25-litre ‘frunk’ under the bonnet.

Leapmotor B10 Pricing for Ireland

  • Leapmotor B10 Style 56kWh: €32,984
  • Leapmotor B10 Style 67kWh: €34,672
  • Leapmotor B10 Design 67kWh: €35,996

Verdict: Leapmotor B10

The Leapmotor B10 is the brand’s most convincing model yet to land in Ireland thanks to its compact size and affordable pricing. It combines trendy SUV style, generous space, strong equipment levels, making it excellent value for families looking to make the switch to electric.

While its comfortable driving character and practicality are major strengths, the B10 falls short of class leaders for refinement and driving engagement, while its screen-dependent interior won’t suit everyone.

Even so, for buyers prioritising space and affordability, the B10 deserves a place high on the shortlist.
